About Miss Naomi

I am blessed, thankful, and very happy to be the daughter of missionaries in the field of Alaska. There's no place I'd rather be! I count it the most wonderful privilege afforded on earth to serve the Lord with my family, giving the Word of God and the Good News of the Savior to the Inupiat Eskimo people. (Click here to visit my family's ministry website.)

I have two sisters (one older, one younger) and a younger brother. My parents and my siblings are my best friends! The isolation of the mission field and a lot of prayer have made us a close family like few things could. "The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage." (Ps. 16:6) "The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just." (Prov. 3:33)

My family  has been serving the Lord in Alaska since the summer of '98. We have ministered in four different native villages since that time. The trials of the ministry and the difficulties of living in the Arctic have been many, but God made each one into a blessing. "Roughing it" without indoor plumbing in the harsh winter,  screaming through harrowing bush plane flights, and living in an isolated village are just a few of my many memories of my family's Alaskan adventures. And I wouldn't trade those memories, now, for anything.

But, more than anything, I have seen God work through the little that we have. Our ministry is small, and at times it has seemed that all our labor has been in vain. But God has proved that He has been in it all along -- this is His work, not ours, after all! It gives me joy in my soul to see God's faithful few steadily grow in the Word and live for Him through the good times and the bad. It is "God that giveth the increase." (I Cor. 3:7)

All I can say is, I have been blessed! I love being in the ministry. My heart is here. A life lived in the center of God's will is rich, fulfilling, and so very rewarding. My parents have had no regrets that they  packed up our family and followed Him to Alaska. It has been a privilege to grow up, watching Dad and Mom trust God and obey His will. They have shown my siblings and me that God is faithful. I am grateful. Looking back upon my parents' service to God gives me courage to follow His will in my own tomorrows.

My Testimony

When I was five years old I prayed a prayer to be saved, but when I was nine I began to have doubts about my salvation. Since before I could remember, I knew of the birth of the holy Son of God in a lowly stable; of His humble, Spirit-filled ministry on earth; of His death on the cross to pay the penalty of my own wicked sins; of His burial where He carried my sins far away; of His glorious resurrection from the grave that could not hold Him because He is God! I knew that all I had to do to be saved was believe, call upon His name, and receive His wondrous gift of eternal life (Rom. 10:9-10). I had prayed a prayer a few years before but I wondered in my heart if the prayer was real. I wanted to be 100% for-certain sure that I would go to Heaven when I died, so all alone in my bedroom (on November 10, 2000) I asked the dear Lord Jesus to come into my heart and be my very own Savior. Thank God, I got my salvation settled and assured on that day. He's in my heart to stay. I know beyond any doubt that the devil can inflict that I am saved for evermore! I'm covered by the Blood! (Rev. 12:11)

Dear reader, may I ask you a few very important questions, the most important questions anyone will ever ask you? Do you know if you were to die today that you would go to Heaven? Have you ever seen yourself as a sinner? Do you know that the Lord Jesus Christ has paid in full the debt you owe God for your sins, and that He is able and willing to save you this very moment? Please, click here and take a few minutes to read this article which can tell you how you can receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.

Wherever the Lord's will leads, however He chooses to use me, I want to do it His way or no way at all. There have been pitfalls already that Satan has laid in my path, and I know there are greater ones which lie  before me.  It's by God's grace only that I might accomplish His perfect plan for my life. "I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD" (Ps. 71:16). I am convinced that life holds absolutely no purpose unless it is His own! My great and only hope is to be a vessel unto honor, meet for my loving Master's use, that He alone might be glorified and exalted through any labor He calls me to do.

I am Thy servant to do Thy will,
and that will is sweeter to me than position or riches or fame,
and I choose it above all things on Earth or in Heaven.

A. W. Tozer

I am very privileged to be a homeschool graduate. My mother has labored many years to provide a good, godly education for me and my siblings. At present, I am taking correspondent Bible college classes from Heartland Baptist Bible College. (I studied from Landmark Baptist College the two years prior.) I consider myself very blessed to be allowed one more year with my family as I prepare for God's will for me and take delight in the study of His Word. It is also a joy to continue to be a help in my parents' ministry as we serve the Lord together. The Lord is leading me and my sister to attend Bible college in the fall. I am looking forward to the new opportunities the Lord is giving me as I seek to do His will.

My Resolutions

I am firmly convinced that the King James Bible (Authorized Version of 1611) is God's inspired and  perfectly preserved Word in its entirety, therefore I believe nothing should be added to or detracted from it. "Thus saith the LORD" means we are to hearken and obey, not lightly consider and ignore. The Bible is the bedrock of my convictions and the framework of my life. It is the rejoicing of my heart and an heritage I have taken forever.

Because independent, fundamental Baptist doctrine is in accordance to the doctrine of God's Word, I am a independent, fundamental Baptist by conviction. Christ established the church during His earthly ministry and He promised that the gates of hell would never prevail against it. Baptist believers have served God throughout history, faithfully obeying the pure doctrine of Scripture, counting not their lives dear unto themselves. They willingly gave their all to the Savior who loved them and died for them, even to their last breath from their tortured bodies. That same host of martyrs is the great cloud of witnesses which compasses the believers about. I cherish my heritage and the precious freedoms they secured for me. Such liberty does not allow me to sit idly by but rather to labor all the more determinedly for the Lord Jesus Christ.

I believe betrothal, as found in the principles of the Bible (not the opinions and rules of fallible men), saves young people a lot of heartache and causes a lifelong marriage to begin in the best way possible. To put it simply, I am waiting for God's best, trusting that He will bring us together at the right time and in the best way: through prayer, friendship, and a mutual concern for the things of the Lord. I am reserved for one wonderful man whom my Heavenly Father has chosen for me, and me for him. We'll be a perfect match, I'm sure!  I am determined to do him good and not evil all the days of my life. The fact that I am unaware of who he is does not mean my commitment to him should not begin before our marriage. By God's grace I'm preparing today to be a faithful wife and help meet to him in the future.

God created music for His own glory and we are to use it for that same purpose. The music a child of God creates or listens to should not contain unnatural rhythms, sensual vocalization, or immoral messages. It ought to be holy as God is holy, especially since music is for the express purpose of worship.

Furthermore, I am persuaded that the Bible teaches women are to dress in a modest, distinctly feminine way. I wear skirts exclusively because that is my personal conviction. I take very great delight in being a lady and hope to express that through my appearance and behavior.

This blog is dedicated to pleasing the Lord in all things. It is used primarily 1) to edify believers in precious truths the Holy Spirit teaches me from the Word of God, 2) to educate others in helpful practical things which interest me personally, and 3) to share general experiences from my life as a missionaries' daughter. It is my prayer that my writings might be a encouragement and help to those who care to read them.

"Not only our private prayers should be filled with God, but our witnessing, our singing, our preaching, our writing should center around the Person of our holy, holy Lord and extol continually the greatness of His dignity and power. There is a glorified Man on the right hand of the Majesty in heaven faithfully representing us there. We are left for a season among men; let us faithfully represent Him here." (A. W. Tozer)

A few of my favorite things...

I love to clean, organize things, and help make my home a pleasant place to be. Baking to make others happy is something that brings me happiness -- healthy whole-wheat bread, yummy cookies for our Sunday Bible Time children, and moist, flavorful muffins and breads are among my favorite baked goods. I love to prepare meals for my family. (Visit Recipes from Naomi for some of my family's favorite recipes!)

I enjoy things of art and beauty. Paintings of the past inspire me. I am an avid reader of books -- Christian classics and devotionals, books on Baptist history, missionary biographies, children's classics, wholesome Christian novels. I love a well-written book that helps me to "think on these things" of Philippians 4:6.

I enjoy doing handcrafts such as sewing and knitting, playing the piano, writing music, and photography. I share photos at Thy Glories Known Photography. The study of herbs, nutrition, and natural healing is something which greatly interests me. I am taking courses on naturopathy from a distance-education herbal academy. I become so engrossed in my research, and afterward expound on it all to my family with such passion, that they think I'm a little odd at times. =D They say that my future husband is going to have a lot of grace to put up with me and my bizarre ways. They're probably right! Ha, ha! I love concocting herbal delights such as tea, salves, lip balms, and the like.

I believe children are a blessing; I can't wait to be a joyful mother of five or six of my own. I love working with children and simply being their friend. The highlight of my week is the Bible Time we have on Sunday afternoons for the children in our village.

I choose to maintain privacy for myself and my family on my blog in most areas. Most of what I share is positive but I indeed have my sins and struggles and by no means intend to portray myself to be someone who is "perfect," because oh! I am most certainly not. But thank God, I'm forgiven and covered by the blood of Jesus!

I am simply a young lady, so very blessed of God, hoping to lift up the Lord Jesus through the wonderful life He has granted to me.
