In the photo: The Arctic Ocean, just a few blocks from my house, finally showed progress in breaking up this past week (the last week of June). We are seeing spectacular icebergs and beautiful open water along the shore although the pack ice, in the background, remains intact. Just beyond that rise is water as far as the eye can see.

I cannot imagine the sights you see, dear Naomi! It has reached 100 degrees or more every day for over a month here in Texas. I have seen snow four or five times in my life. It must be truly remarkable to live where you do.
